Family Travel question

My family (wife and 2 kids) are spending time in France and Spain this coming summer and I’d appreciate your opinion in our itinerary. Flying to Paris, spend 3 nights, before heading to Avignon, renting a car, and spending 4 days. After that we plan on taking the train to Spain. We’d like to spend 4 nights somewhere before our final 7 days in Barcelona (where we will fly home from). Would keeping the rental vehicle and driving the coast from Provence to Barcelona be worthwhile or better to just take the train?

I think you will enjoy the scenery if you rent a car and drive along the coast
